Nancy Lum, RD, LDN has been practicing since 2001 and has been involved in multiple medical disciplines with a concentration in GI and Bariatric Nutrition since 2002. A graduation of University of Maryland, College Park, Nancy received training at the University of Maryland Medical System Hospital before joining Sinai Hospital in 2003 to help create the Bariatric Nutrition program there.  Nancy now leads the Bariatric Nutrition program for Dr. Averbach’s patients, which she developed herself. Nancy is certified by the Board of Dietetic Practice of the State of Maryland, and is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and the American Dietetic Association. Nancy is also co-founder of STRIVE Motivational Group Therapy, established in 2012, which focuses on nutrition, lifestyle and behavior modification to get to the root cause of eating habits.

Cathy Carr-Dadin is the Bariatric Coordinator and one of the founders of the Saint Agnes Bariatric Program.  Cathy had open gastric bypass in 1999, and has maintained a 180 weight loss for more than 15 years.  Cathy is an advocate for her patients and others struggling with obesity.  She chaired the Maryland Taskforce for the Utilization Review for Morbid Obesity in 2005-2007 and has testified before the Maryland State Legislature to ensure that all Marylanders have access to care.  She earned a Certification in Bariatric Nursing from the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) in 2007, the first year they offered the exam, and is now a proud member of ASMBS as well.

A registered nurse for 29 years, Barbara Stricker has specialized in bariatric nursing since 2004. Her nursing career has involved direct patient care, staff education, and patient education. She has also been involved in committees which develop clinical pathways for the care of the bariatric population. Her certification in bariatric nursing from ASMBS was earned in 2010, and she is both a member of ASMBS and an active local chapter member.

Dawn A. O’Meally, LCSW-C, P.A., has been practicing since 1988 and has worked as a mental health clinician in a variety of settings including Sheppard Pratt Hospital, Frederick Memorial Hospital and Carroll Hospital Center doing ED psych evaluations. Since 1996, Dawn has offered her services in private practice as well. Dawn received training in 2005 from the Psychiatric Evaluation of bariatric patients, and since that time she has conducted mental health evaluations for Dr. Averbach and other bariatric surgeons at the Saint Agnes Center for Bariatrics.

Dawn assists with facilitating the Saint Agnes Bariatric Support Group meetings, because she has a special passion for working with Bariatric patients both before and post-surgery. She enjoys interacting with patients, and facilitates several psycho-educational and therapy groups in her private practice. Along with Nancy Lum, Dawn is co-founder of STRIVE Motivational Group Therapy, established in 2012, which focuses on nutrition, lifestyle and behavior modification to get to the root cause of eating habits.
